ACMC Workers Stand Behind SEIU
Healthcare Workers in the Midst of Negotiations Reject Advances by NUHW
ACMC members show support for SEIU 1021 with petition and noontime “unity rally” against bosses’ massive takeaways
(Oakland, California) -- The Alameda County Medical Center (ACMC) Workers’ Bargaining Team of SEIU 1021 delivered to

management hundreds of members' signatures pledging support for their 2009 Contract Campaign -- and rejecting NUHW’s attempt to divide and weaken members' bargaining strength during an extraordinary attack by management.
ACMC workers and SEIU 1021 staff collected hundreds of signatures within days after NUHW released a flyer misrepresenting themselves to ACMC management and workers as a bargaining agent WITHOUT an official member vote. Click here to see the NUHW disinformation flyer.
For weeks the startup union NUHW, led and founded by disgraced former leaders of UHW, has been falsely promising to wage a contract campaign with no money, no members, no resources and no clout. Not to mention that NUHW is also facing a mountain of costly legal challenges for misleading members in other SEIU locals. Click here to see the latest legal challenge.
ACMC workers of SEIU 1021 require an unprecedented, resourceful contract campaign -- which NUHW cannot provide -- to fight off the more than 25 takeaways proposed by the employer. Takeaways include assaults on our job security through layoffs and outsourcing, as well as removing caseload caps for social workers and other worker protections needed most during an economic downturn. All of this will have a negative impact on safe patient care standards.
