Working to Limit Mandatory Overtime
Mandatory overtime has become common in our hospitals.

In consultation with SEIU members nationwide, the Nurse Alliance has created an Overtime Report Form. This form enables nurses, whether union or non-union, to document any mandatory or pressured overtime we work.
Nurses Week Efforts
During both Nurses Week 2003 and Nurses Week 2002, hundreds of nurses urged Congress members to co-sponsor the federal ban on mandatory overtime (the Safe Nursing and Patient Care Act).
In 2003, they convinced seven legislators to co-sponsor the ban, and in 2002, they convinced 10.
